Most American furniture manufacturers include mirrors in their range of bedroom furniture, and some also manufacture mirrors for the living room or dining room. Bedroom mirrors are not necessarily restricted to that room, and many are used all over the house - wherever reflection and a need to expand a room are required.

In this article, the mirror is seen as something functional. There is also obviously a decorative purpose to the mirror. However sometimes these points can be forgotten.

The sunburst mirror has a fascinating history that dates right back to the 17th Century. During the 17th Century the Catholic Church began to use monstrances above the alter these elaborate designs were made up of decorative stands surrounded by glided rays of sunshine demonstrating what we know today as the sunburst style. These monstrances were often found in churches in Italy featured above the altar. The very first mirrors were very small and convex and it wasn’t until the late 17th Century that mirror production became more established and mirrors eventually increased in size.
